18th century archaeological discoveries in Greece and Italy offered compelling witness to the serenity of classical art and design. These newly discovered antique forms found expression in furniture designs of the day including this 19th century Swedish neoclassic inspired tier table. An ancient classical motif of banded reeds, first appearing as an Egyptian motif, is depicted on the front of the drawer which appears to float on the face. The two shelves are finished with projected horizontal moldings and the Cyd Side Table is raised on feminine, flared serpentine legs. White oak lends to a soft, modern interpretation.
